Saving Pearl's Sight - Surgery Needed
Pearl is just 2 years old. She’s an English Bulldog who had significant deformities in both eyes.
She has entropian, a condition that causes the eyelids to turn in and the eyelashes scratch the eye every time she blinks.
She also has cherry eye, a condition which causes the third eyelids gland to protrude causing swelling and discomfort.
Left untreated these conditions will worsen and in time cause ulcers to form on the eyes and ultimately blindness.
To make matters worse, the large folds of skin around Pearl’s eyes and nose make her condition worse as the skin is pulled away from where it should be. The skin folds need to be resected to prevent continuing complications.
A specialist ophthalmic vet can perform surgery on Pearl to correct her eyes, get her out of discomfort and preserve her vision. The downside is that surgery is expensive.
