Steps to Adoption
FOR U.K. DOGS
1) APPLICATION FORM. Complete the application form online. This will be processed by a member of the team as soon as possible. Please make sure that you provide proof of permission for a dog if you live in a rented home. Our full terms and conditions can be found on the application form which is on the resources page. We do not place dogs into homes with children under 5.
2) MEET & GREET. Identify a dog that you are interested in. We require all adopters to visit our dogs at LEAST TWICE if they are fostered in the U.K. Locations are shown on each dog’s advert. When visiting we ask that all family members and resident dogs attend. This is to ensure that the dog is a good match for the adopter. Both dogs and adopters are assessed during this interaction. Not all applications will result in a meeting with a dog. Not all meetings will result in adoption. We give preference to suitable applicants who live closer to our dogs.
3) HOME CHECK. Home checks are carried out by volunteers in the area where the adopter lives. We will identify a volunteer as soon as possible however it can sometime take several weeks for home checks to be carried out. No dog can be reserved until a home check has been carried out.
4) ADOPTION. We ask that all adoption fees are paid by bank transfer. An adoption contract is signed when dogs are adopted. After this a member of the team will change the microchip registration details and activate 5 weeks free insurance kindly provided by AGRIA.
FOR NON U.K. DOGS
We offer a select few dogs for direct adoption. All the aforementioned steps apply with the exception of meeting the dog. Dogs offered for direct adoption are in foster placements abroad. Such adopted dogs arrive to approved adopters homes by DEFRA registered animal courier.
