2 year old Deerhound x Saluki. Rocky is a lovely boy. He has a goofy personality and doesn’t realise his size. He’s 26kg.

He is living with another dog and could live with other dogs or on his own. Rocky likes to play with other dogs, and will bark at some but not others. He is a typical sighthound and will play bite/nip other dogs necks so they chase him – which he loves. This isn’t nasty in nature but if others aren’t used to sighthounds this may be interpreted in the wrong way.

Rocky walks nicely on a lead with a harness. Though if he catches whiff of an interesting smell or sees a squirrel he will pull strongly to get to it. His recall is a work in progress using high value treats. Travels well in the car. He prefers to sleep on the sofa and will sleep nicely all night.

He has lived with cats previously, but wants to chase the current resident cats and becomes hyperfocused. We would suggest he’d be better with a cat free home, or for the resident cat to be very dog confident.

Rocky will become possessive over high value treats or chews with other dogs so would need to be given these separately.

Rocky does sometimes forget his manners and would benefit from ongoing training. He will look up on kitchen counter if he can smell something nice. He can also open doors .

He has had a bad experience at a groomers when younger and as such was sedated by the vet to be clipped due to bad matting. His fur will grow, so unless brushed will become tangled again. He tolerates a doggy tangle teaser.
An experienced groomer will be able to slowly build his confidence back.

He is happy to see everyone, including children is currently living with two.

He loves a fuss and will repay you with face licks and will make someone a loyal, fun, loving boy.
