Sam is in foster in Wiltshire. He’s a beautiful 10 year old collie cross and is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Sam is looking for an adopter with EXPERIENCE with these type of breeds. He will be a work in progress initially but is a lovely boy and learns quickly.
Sam loves his walks but can be reactive (but not aggressive) outside, this is not unusual with collies. He will bark at cars if they get too close, people, children and dogs (again at close proximity) but there is work being carried out to reduce his reactivity.
Sam would be happiest in a quiet home, in a more rural area (a busy built up area increases his reactivity). He would be best suited to a home where he is not left alone for long periods as he loves company. He currently lives with 7 other dogs at present with no issues.
Do not be fooled by his age, this gorgeous boy is fit as a fiddle and loves his walks, he regularly plays with the other dogs in his foster home that play and would be best suited to a home with another friendly dog(s).
He has met the grandchildren of the foster and although he is a little wary at first, providing the introductions are carried out properly and the children are monitored around him then he is fine. So older dog savvy children would be best. He is still nervous of a lot of noises in the home that he has not heard before, microwaves pinging, hoovers etc., but that will be due to having spent most of his life outside a home.
Sam sits beautifully for treats and loves nothing more that lying on the sofa having cuddles and belly rubs. He will mouth when the fuss stops but it is just his way of asking for more.
After a life of hardship and cruelty, (when he was found he had injuries to his back legs) Sam definitely deserves a lovely retirement home to enjoy his final years. Could you be his mum or dad for the rest of his life ? Adoption donation £130.
